Dr. Zivec is deeply specialized in body contouring procedures or shaping of the entire female body after multiple pregnancies and weight loss (mommy makeover surgery). Her principle is that every aesthetic procedure should be tailored to the individual needs and that every woman deserves to be happy in her body despite multiple pregnancies, hormonal changes and lack of time.
The mommy makeover procedure is characterised by a safe combination of surgical techniques that are suited to the individual woman and can help to achieve a more youthful and aesthetically harmonious female body. The mommy makeover combines procedures such as tummy tuck, liposuction, breast surgery (reduction, lifting or augmentation), fat grafting, intimate surgery, etc. In addition, she performs also facial aesthetic surgery, including both surgical and non-surgical techniques.
Dr. Katarina Zivec completed her medical studies at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. After graduating, she spent a year doing research at the renowned MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, USA. She specialised in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery at the University Medical Centre in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
During her residency she spent a year in the UK, specialising at the renowned Canniesburn Plastic Surgery Unit in Scotland. She passed the European Examination in Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery and thus obtained the title of Fellow of EBOPRAS. She obtained her PhD in the field of cell therapy and its impact on post-operative healing at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia.
For 16 years she worked at the University Medical Centre in Ljubljana, most recently as a senior consultant plastic surgeon, performing the most complex reconstructive procedures on the face and body. She was a member of the multidisciplinary team for breast reconstruction, for post bariatric plastic surgery (after massive weight loss) and for the reconstruction after facial nerve palsy. During her work at the University Medical Centre Ljubljana, she was involved in teaching medical students at the Department of Surgery of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Ljubljana.
Since 2023 she works permanently at the leading aesthetic clinic in Ljubljana - Klinika Bozikov. Additionally, she operates as a visiting surgeon at an elite aesthetic clinic Cosmesurge in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. In this way, she helps many women who, also because of their religious beliefs, want to be operated by a female surgeon. As in the Western world, also in the United Arab Emirates, where cosmetic surgery is booming, the Mommy makeover is one of the most common procedures.
She is a member of EBOPRAS (European Board of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery), ASPS (American Society of Plastic Surgeons), ISAPS (International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery) and SZPREK (Slovenian Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons).
She regularly participates in international professional meetings in the field of plastic and aesthetic surgery and non-surgical skin rejuvenation.
She is a mommy of two children, an athlete who knows the challenge of balancing family life, work commitments and maintaining a rested, natural and fit appearance.
